6. NEW BUSINESS
a) TRANSFORMER CABINET MURAL DESIGN REVIEW
Ms. Martin presented designs by Amelia Caruso (replacing a mural she painted
at Tenney Court that was moved) and Dominique Montaño on Stuart and
Heritage Circle. The Board discussed Dominique’s design sketches vs. the final
mural as the sketches from sides 1 & 3 to sides 2 & 4 and the top are quite
different. They asked if this portrays what she intends them to look like or if they
will be more consistent side to side in the final mural. Ms. Martin also presented
collaboration plans and initial concepts for two neighborhood projects with
Poudre School District: Chelsea Ermer will be creating a mural with students at
Fossil Ridge High School and Gale Whitman will be creating a mural with
students at Kinard Middle School. To keep the projects moving forward she asks
the Board to approve what is presented today and will present the final design at
a future meeting.
Ms. Sherman moved to approve the design concepts as presented, confirming
with Dominque

b) TRAFFIC BOX DESIGN REVIEW
Ms. Martin presented a design by Shawna Turner to be painted on a traffic box
on the east side of the intersection of College Ave. and Oak Street. It is being

Ms. Powers moved approval of the traffic box proposal
Ms. Barnes seconded.
Unanimously approved.
d) APP 30th Anniversary
Ms. Martin continued the discussion for the 30th Anniversary Celebration and the
board discussed the timing for an event. It was suggested to focus on community
buy-in and have the community celebrate themselves and the story of the APP
collection. They also suggested tying promotion to other museums and libraries
to spread around to other cultural facilities and organizations.
Ideas for the Celebration included:
• T-shirts for artists working on projects
• Commissioning special cabinet and piano murals that celebrate the
anniversary.
• A social campaign to vote on favorite projects and highlight older
projects—for example, showing the first year of Pianos About Town.
• Creating a special logo, and graphic promotions like a by-the-numbers
highlighting the economic impact and a timeline of APP projects.
• Videos of interviews with artists like Amelia Caruso who painted the first
cabinets.
• Telling the story 30 years of the community interacting with art—kids who
created Pedestrian Pavers that have grown up what they remember.
• Exhibit of pianos—piano backs images of all pianos on a loop.
• Highlight the 1% projects that people are less familiar with. Highlight the
first projects?
• Artist talks, such as 5 in 5.
