Participation for this Disability Advisory Board Meeting will be held in person at City Hall,
300 Laporte Ave., bldg. A, CIC Conference Room and Zoom using this link:

Online Public Participation:
The meeting will be available to join beginning at 5:30 pm. Participants should try to sign in
prior to the 5:30 pm meeting start time, if possible. For public comments, the Chair will ask
participants to click the “Raise Hand” button to indicate you would like to speak at that time.
Staff will moderate the Zoom session to ensure all participants have an opportunity to address
the Board or Commission.
To participate:
Use a laptop, computer, or internet-enabled smartphone. (Using earphones with a
microphone will greatly improve your audio).
You need to have access to the internet.
Keep yourself on muted status.

4. COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION – No members of the public were present.
5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
a. July 18, 2024
Board member Kelley motioned to approve the July 18, 2024, meeting
minutes. Vice Chair Schlicting seconded the motion. Motion passed 8-0

9. Old Business
a. Council Priorities and Discussion with Councilmember Melanie Potyondy
Councilmember Potyondy shared the process used for determining Council’s
2025 – 2026 priorities. They focused more on policies. She explained they are
not listed in any particular order, with all having equal footing.
Board members asked how they could be most valuable to City Council.
Potyondy explained it would be most valuable for the Disability Advisory Board
to review policies being considered and to be involved with Council meetings.
10. OTHER BUSINESS/UPDATES
a. Meeting platform to Teams instead of Zoom
Melanie informed the Board that the City is moving away from the Zoom
platform form for public meetings and will be transitioning to Microsoft Teams.
b. Discussion to develop strategy for 2025 Work Plan – Special Session
Chair Drees suggested holding a Special Session outside of the Board’s
regular meetings to focus on the 2025 Work Plan and to better align with
Council priorities.
Board member Kelley motioned to have a special session to develop the 2025
workplan. Board member Tiner seconded the motion. Motion passed 8-0.
c. Proclamation for Disability Employment Awareness Month – Community
member to receive the proclamation
Board members will research individuals and businesses and will bring their
findings to the meeting on September 16.
d. Regional Trails Summit
Melanie shared that Boards and Commission members are being invited to
participate in the Regional Trail Summit. She encouraged all interested Board
members to register.
11. Future Agenda Review
a. Invite Director of Integrative Services with PSD to attend a meeting to present
and have a discussion on how to work with schools. Emily Ring and Jody
Rommel would be good contacts.
b. Integration from K-12 into the community
c. Recipient for the Disability Employment Awareness Month Proclamation
