Living well with dementia is the expectation,
not the exception.

aspects of caregiving
Care partner empathy, harmony, and resilience are
boosted by the knowledge and application of the SPECAL® Method
What word or phrase comes to mind when you arrive at work and are told
your assignment includes a person living with dementia?
2021- North Central University and Banner Health, Greeley, CO: SPECAL informed education for 90 healthcare workers (nurses and certified nursing assistants) showed

Evidence of Impact
In 525 post educational surveys of care partners and
professionals in the past year:
99% of care partners reported that they gained insights
during the session which enabled them to identify at least
one practical intervention they would implement to improve
well-being for loved ones and themselves.
97% of professionals reported gaining insights which will
change practice on their next shift.
98% of respondents reported feeling more confident in
their ability to care for a client/patient/loved one living with
dementia.
“Just wanted to reach out and tell you I had a patient today
living with very early stages of her condition who came in
seeking resources for herself and her family. I passed on
your website…I also spent some time reviewing my notes
from your workshop. So helpful!!!
I wanted to say thanks so much for everything you do! I
know my patients are appreciative …My patient had a
big paradigm shift today when I told her that she knows
her condition best, she is the expert, and she gets to tell us
what’s most helpful for her. I don’t think she had ever been
told that before and she started to cry. Powerful stuff!”
Text message from a current family practice intern
Evidence of Impact
Scott: “January was our 10-year anniversary
of all of this…And I so wish that we would
have bumped into you, 10 years ago,…it
would have made this journey so much
easier--especially for me being able to
make life better for Diana. SPECAL really
opened my eyes more than anything else.
All the different classes that my
daughter and I have been
through over the years and
learning about the disease,
NOTHING has been as valuable
for me as learning SPECAL.
…I couldn't get past using common sense
before, but, now, it’s so clear. SPECAL sense
works to create Contented Dementia.”
