Participation for this Art in Public Places Board Meeting will be in person at The Lincoln

5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES, January 24, 2024
Ms. Powers moved to approve the minutes.
Ms. Sherman seconded.
Unanimously approved.
6. NEW BUSINESS
a) PIANOS ABOUT TOWN SUBMISSION REVIEW
Staff shared a presentation of the top-ranking artist/piano designs as tallied from
the evaluation forms. Thirteen artists will be selected for the season and staff
requests that we identify 4 alternates. The Board and attending Selection
Committee members were asked to revote on the tied designs.
The Board asked about the lettering/Japanese script in one of the designs. Staff
will confirm content. The Board suggested that staff include the number of
applications in their notification letters.
Ms. Barnes Moved to approval of the 13 and 4 alternates.
Ms. Bauer seconded.
Unanimously approved.
b) XERISCAPE GARDEN PARTY
Ms. Martin gave an overview of the event and past participation and asked to
include an artist again in 2024.

Ms. Powers Moved to select an artist from the preapproved list for the event in
June.
Ms. Zola seconded.
Unanimously approved.
c) COMMUNITY CENTER FOR CREATIVITY
Ms. Martin gave an update on APP projects at the site. Staff discussed project
teams proposals of murals for the cooling tower and ADA restroom and an open
call to artists for any remaining funds.
Ms. Zola Moved to use the preapproved list for the expanded scope at the
cooling tower and restroom and a call for the experiential art.
Ms. Bauer seconded.
Unanimously approved.
d) DECOMMISSION REVIEW
Ms. Martin shared the history of the Northside Aztlan Community Center art floor
created by artist Carolyn Braaksma. The handout provided the information and
images of the work as it looked after install, after maintenance work, and current
images. The board asked if APP could save the bronze medallions.
Ms. Sherman moved.to decommission art at Northside Aztlan Community
Center.
Ms. Powers seconded.
Unanimously approved.
7. STAFF REPORT
Ms. Martin shared highlights and updates; the report will be emailed to the
Board.
8. OTHER BUSINESS
Ms. Martin shared dates of upcoming meetings.
Ms. Powers will not be in attendance for the April meeting
Ms. Shuff asked for clarification on her participation in the voting if her child
participates in the Pedestrian Paver Project.

Minutes approved by the chair and a vote of the Board/Commission on XX/XX/XX
MONTHLY UPDATES:
ASPHALT ART, Magnolia, Canyon and Sherwood Intersection: FC Moves has received Asphalt Art Initiative grant
from Bloomberg Philanthropies to create painted mural/infrastructure at this intersection. Artist Jess Bean was
selected for this project.
BUS AND BUS SHELTER ART: The 23 posters and 3 poems have been installed in bus shelters and on buses.
APP has now placed storm drain mural art on 4 of the bus shelter benches.
COMMUNITY CENTER FOR CREATIVITY (FORMERLY THE CARNEGIE CENTER FOR CREATIVITY), 200 Mathews St.:
The project team will select an artist from the Design Consultant List for the two mural projects.
COLLEGE AVE. SIGNALS, College Ave at Pitkin, Columbia, and Harvard: The project team selected Mark
Leichliter from the Design Consultant List. The design was approved by the Board. The Project needs approval
from CDOT to install on the signal posts.
COLLEGE AVE. AND TRILBY INTERSECTION: The project team will select an artist from the Design Consultant
List.
ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING CENTER FLOW RESTORATION, east of Timberline on Drake: Artist Katy Casper
presented her design to the board and the project was approved. Staff is working on final details for the APP
contract.
GARDENS ON SPRING CREEK TEMPORARY ART INSTALLATION, 2145 Centre Ave.: Colorado artist Jodie Bliss
created and installed nine sculptures the site. The work will be removed today.
I-25 AND PROSPECT INTERCHANGE: Artist Stephen Shachtman was selected for this project and is meeting
with the team to develop the art for the site.
LAPORTE BRIDGES, Laporte Ave. between Grandview Ave. and Taft Hill Rd.: The team selected James Lynxwiler
from the Design Consultant List. The design was approved and the project has been installed. The team is
working on final details at the site.

Fabrication of the stone benches for Andy Dufford’s Stream Rehabilitation Project..
Sandblasting the river pattern and sayings into the four stone benches.
LAPORTE CORRIDOR, Laporte Ave. between Fishback Ave. and Sunset St.: Staff will issue an RFQ for a Colorado
artist. A new City Project Manager has been assigned to this project.
MIDTOWN IMPROVEMENT, College between Boardwalk and Thunderbird: Staff will issue an RFQ for an artist
within a 75-mile radius of Fort Collins. There will be different phases to this project.
NORTHSIDE AZTLAN COMMUNITY CENTER CHILDCARE PROJECT, 112 E. Willow: The project team will select an
artist from the Design Consultant List.
OAK STREET STORMWATER IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT, Oak Street from Jackson Ave. to Mason St.: Artist Mark
Aeling was selected for this project and is meeting with the team to develop the art for the site.
PEDESTRIAN PAVER PROJECT: APP staff is developing the digital files for the 2023 designs. The Selection
Committee will select the 2024 paver designs today.
PIANOS ABOUT TOWN PROJECT: The artists have been selected for 2024 season.
POWER TRAIL AND HARMONY CROSSING, Harmony Road between McMurry Ave. and Timberline Rd..: Artist
Todd Kundla is meeting with the project team.
SCHOOLSIDE PARK (FORMERLY BACON PARK), Timberline Rd, near Bacon Elementary: The artist for the project
will be selected at the board meeting today.
STREAM REHABILITATION, Mail and Fossil Creek Confluence and Spring Creek at Edora Park: Andy Dufford’s
design was approved by the APP Board and by City Council. The project is in fabrication. See images on first
page.
THE LINCOLN CENTER VINYL PROJECTS: The Lincoln Center hired artists to design artwork for the facility van
vinyl wrap (Mike McPuff) and window clings (Jennifer Ivanovic). APP helped with an artist call and contracts.
TIMBERLINE & LINCOLN INTERSECTION: The project team will select an artist from the Design Consultant List.
TRANSFORMER CABINET MURAL PROJECT: The call for 2024 submissions is currently be posted. There was a
virtual open house for artists last night. The deadline is April 29.
UTILITIES PUBLIC ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM, location to be
determined: Allie Ogg’s was approved by the Board and City Council.
Allie is currently working on this project with Utilities.
WATER TREATMENT FACILITY, Laporte west of Overland Trail: Todd
Kundla’s project was approved by the APP Board and by City Council.
This project is in fabrication.
WEST ELIZABETH, between Shields St. and Overland Trail: Artist Mark
Leichliter was meeting with the team to develop art for the site when the
project was put on hold. The project team is starting to meet again.
