AGENDA REVIEW 4. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION 5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Ms. Powers moved to approve the Minutes from August 16. Ms. Zola seconded. Unanimously approved 6. NEW BUSINESS a) COLLEGE AVENUE SIGNALS PROJECT REVIEW Ms. Martin introduced the project. Artist Mark Leichliter was in attendance and presented the art project. The intention of the art is to add art to the signal poles and to introduce nature into the environment with leaf motifs. The simplified half- leaves include stylized text that says the street names. The sculptures will be placed above the signal arm and below the streetlight. They are 5 feet tall and will be about 18 feet off the ground. If the Board approves, the project will be reviewed and approved by CDOT as College Ave. is a highway. Ms. Zola moved to approve this design. Ms. Sherman seconded. Unanimously approved. b) 2024 WORK PLAN Ms. Martin presented a draft based on previous versions. The Board asked to add Bus Art to the Transportation section, with the age range of artists who participated. Staff will update and bring a final version. c) PROJECT UPDATES Ms. Martin shared updates of current projects, including Pianos About Town, Storm Drain Murals, Laporte Bridges, and Vine and Lemay. 7. STAFF REPORT Ms. Martin shared highlights from the report. The report will be emailed to the Board. 8. OTHER BUSINESS There was a discussion about the positive impacts of having art around town. The Board asked about updates on The Carnegie building. 9. ADJOURNMENT 4:35 PM Minutes approved by the chair and a vote of the Board/Commission on XX/XX/XX MONTHLY UPDATES: BUS AND BUS SELTER ART: The 7 posters and 2 poems from 2022 and the first 12 posters from the 2023 Call for Entry have been installed. Staff is fabricating the remaining posters. CARNEGIE CENTER FOR CREATIVITY, 200 Mathews St.: The project team will select an artist from the Design Consultant List. COLLEGE AVE. SIGNALS, College Ave at Pitkin, Columbia, and Harvard: The project team selected Mark Leichliter from the Design Consultant List. The design was approved by the Board. Staff is finalizing a contract. COLLEGE AVE. AND TRIILBY INTERSECTION: The project team will select an artist from the Design Consultant List. ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING CENTER FLOW RESTORATION, east of Timberline on Drake: Artist Katy Casper presented her design to the board today. GARDENS ON SPRING CREEK TEMPOROARY ART INSTALLATION, 2145 Centre Ave.: The Gardens team selected Colorado artist Jodie Bliss. Jodie has installed her nine sculptures and will be on view through late April 2024. LAPORTE BRIDGES, Laporte Ave. between Grandview Ave. and Taft Hill Rd.: The team selected Jim Lynxwiler from the Design Consultant List. The design was approved by the Board and the project is currently being fabricated. LAPORTE CORRIDOR, Laporte Ave. between Fishback Ave. and Sunset St.: Staff will issue an RFQ for a Colorado artist. MIDTOWN IMPROVEMENT, College between Boardwalk and Thunderbird: This project is currently on hold. Staff will issue an RFQ for an artist within a 75-mile radius of Fort Collins. OAK STREET STORMWATER IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT, Oak Street from Jackson Avenue to Mason Street: Artist Mark Aeling was selected for this project and is meeting with the team to develop the art for the site. CITY OF FORT COLLINS Art in Public Places Program Staff Report — November 15, 2023 Moving by Joshua Weiner at Lemay Ave overpass over Vine Drive. PEDESTRIAN PAVER PROJECT: APP staff is developing the digital files for the 2023 designs. PIANO PROJECT: Mallory Cash is currently painting indoors at Foothills. She will be working through December 4. Katelynn Mai-Fusco will paint December 8–20. STREAM REHABILITATION, multiple sites: Andy Dufford’s design for this project related to stream rehabilitation for multiple sites was approved by the APP Board and by City Council. The project is in fabrication. TIMBERLINE & LINCOLN INTERSECTION: The project team will select an artist from the Design Consultant List.. TRANSFORMER CABINET MURALS: All 2023 murals have been completed. TRAFFIC BOX MURAL, Turnberry and Country Club Rds.: Artist Chris Bates completed a mural on a sponsored traffic box in the Maple Hill Neighborhood. UTILITIES PUBLIC ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM, location to be determined: Artist Allie Ogg was selected by the project team. Allie project was approved by the Board and City Council. Allie is starting working on this project with Utilities VINE AND LEMAY: The ten sculptures by Joshua Weiner have been installed. (See images on the first page.) WATER RECLAMATION FACILITY, County Rd. 9 and Environmental Dr.: Artist Lisa Cameron Russell was selected for this project. When the design is finalized, it will be brought to the APP Board. WATER TREATMENT FACILITY, Laporte west of Overland Trail: Todd Kundla’s project was approved by the APP Board and by City Council. This project is in fabrication. WATER TREATMENT FACILITY UTILITY CABINET MURALS, Laporte west of Overland Trail: Artist Kristen Vohs’s cabinet mural within the gates of the facility has been completed. WEST ELIZABETH, between Shields St. and Overland Trail: Artist Mark Leichliter was selected for this project. The artist was meeting with the team to develop art for the site when the project was put on hold. The project team is currently developing the budget and will start meeting again shortly. OTHER BUSINESS: Staff shared information with Santa Barbara, CA (cabinets) and Elmhurst, Illinois (Pianos).
