Senior Advisory Board Minutes
Wednesday September 13th 11:30 am
In Person meeting/Zoom Hybrid meeting 1200 Raintree Drive
Fort Collins Senior Center
Mission: The Senior Advisory Board shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Fort Collins City Council
on programs and policies that help aging citizens live full and interesting lives and continue to
contribute, participate, and share in the life of the community.
I. Call to Order: 11:30am
II. Public Participation
Dr. Vera Visa and Uday Visa – made statement regarding advocating for seniors. Helping those who need
resources etc.
Meredith Guerrero and Valarie Schultz – looking for people to join their study.
Joe Glomboski – shared a summary document from Agewise Colorado regarding current legislation.

III. Administrative Items
a. Attendance:
Alan Kress, Deanna O’Connell, Mary Roberts, Bruce Henderson, Gabby Rivera, David Kovach,
Suzanne King, Alicia Durand, Myles Crane
Staff members: Lisa Hays.
b. Approval of August minutes Motion: Alan Kress Second Bruce Henderson. Unanimously
approved.
c. Correspondence – None
d. Six Month Calendar Update – Sarah will keep updated monthly.
IV. Today’s Guest Speakers: Senator Joann Ginal
a. Senator Ginal gave a comprehensive overview of the bills and legislation she has been focusing on
regarding older adults.
b. Encouraged all to attend the meeting at the Budweiser event center regarding prop. HH. See her
facebook page for more information.
c. She also encouraged attendance at the Colorado Commission on Aging and Colorado Center for
Aging zoom meetings.
d. October 7th is Ageism awareness day.
V. New Business:
a. Bruce reviewed information on Transfort possibly continuing free fare program. Recommended
drafting a letter to City Council in favor of continuing research to determine if keeping Transfort
free to the public is advised.
• Myles made a motion and David seconded to approve Bruce’s drafting a letter to City
Council. All approved.
b. Recent City Council Activity – Discussion regarding the recent city council meeting and ageism
concerns.
c. Myles made a motion and Deanne seconded to draft a letter to City Council expressing concern
regarding ageism at council meetings. All approved.

VI. Ongoing initiatives.
a. SAB community outreach
• Discussion of the type of material to use when going out to visit various areas.
b. Board member roundtable minute
• Deanna – October 7th 9:00am-12:00pm Shredding event taking place at Canvas Credit
Union on Research Dr. Bring all papers to be shredded and canned food to give to the
food bank.
• Bruce – Bicycle committee has disbanded; they are switching to a new committee called
Multi modes advisory committee.
c. Housing – Mary/ Alan no report
d. Transportation – Bruce – see new business.
e. Safety & Wellness – Deanna no report
f. Office on Aging – Alan no report
g. Outreach to isolated individuals-Gabby no report
h. Senior Center – Sarah no report
