Not enough courts in the area would like to have lockers like at Spring Canyon.
Curious how the monies from Lewis Tennis School are being incorporated into
potentially more courts with the area.
Mike C will follow up by emailing Nina B to discuss Pickleball and connect Scott with
Nina.

Ken Motioned to Approve February’s minutes and Mike N. seconded. All present
were in favor.
Correction- add Bob Kingsbury as present for February Zoom meeting.

Hughes Stadium Update
The last Council meeting had several special interest groups speaking at the Citizen
Participation Section including a Bike Park Advocacy group.
Ken Christensen expressed it is really important to abide by the Parks Master Plan,
and Trails Plans.
Real estate services will maintain ownership for the organization once the purchase
takes place until there is a public process and decisions are made as to how the site
will be laid out.
6. NEW BUSINESS
No new Business to report.
7. BOARD MEMBER REPORTS
PSD State of Our Youth Nick Armstrong
Every group that interfaces with the youth was present for this meeting.
Premise from the superintendent; this is the last line of defense for mental health.
72% LGBTQ stress level is not manageable among all students on most days. 70% LBGTQ
self-harm themselves. 70% of PSD staff report a moderate concern about student’s
emotional wellbeing. 46% Hispanic students have not taken advantage to opportunities
outside of the school.
Student identified the 4 critical spaces: awareness, access to mental health providers.
Spaces of belonging and programing in place.
The most relevant to Parks is the spaces of belonging and programming in place.

Number one barrier is travel.
Reduced program to be available to those that are disenfranchised.
8. OTHER BUSINESS
Recreation Article
o Next Recreator June (fall themed)
o Bob asked if the Recreator were at the visitor center.
o Tree canopy would be a good article
Updates
o Recreation Update LeAnn William
RFP for Software. Spring Season has started, and unfortunately there have been
some car break-ins recently at Rolland Moore. Looking at summer staff and Pre-
employment drug screening- knowing when someone is under the influence
while on the job rather than pre-employment
o Park Planning and Development Greg Oakes
o Dovetail Grand Opening mid summer. 2-part project Poudre Trail connection
with CDOT to build the bridge.Mail Creek overpass also 2 projects connecting
trails with completion this fall.
Ground breaking starts in 18 months for the 911 Memorial plaza.
o Parks Update Mike Calhoon
Spring Canyon Community Park Veteran‘s Plaza adding service flags along
curb line. New LED lights at the softball fields.
Telling the story of the downtown flowers with the marketing team to educate the
community. New irrigation at Library Park. Adding an additional Ranger per the
BFO process. Currently in the background check portion which will take two
months. Closed Sr. Manager of Park Planning position.22 applicants. Two Parks
and Rec hiring fair, added a golf benefits, considering a sign on bonus.
April 20th will be a Meet and Greet for the finalist of the Park Planning and
Development Sr Manager position open to Board Members.
