Today’s Guest Speakers: Ensight Skills Center Fort Collins. a. Denny Moyer, CEO, Melody Bettenhausen, COO and Amy Heath • Have been operating for 22 years providing a fully comprehensive program for anyone with low vision or vision challenges. • Nationally accredited. • Person centered evaluation and process improvement. V. New Business: a. Recent City Council Activity – Council member Susan Gutowsky • 1041 Regs discussion in progress • Occupancy U+2 • SB 213 repealed • Bringing community together to hear from all on land use code issues. b. Intergenerational Discussions – CSU Gerontology Club • Will be conducting quarterly intergenerational conversations. c. SAB member recruitment • SAB has current openings for new members. Working with the City of Fort Collins Boards and Commissions staff to fill as soon as possible. d. SAB – open forum • Deanna – changing the narrative from Seniors to Older Adults • Alicia – Wish of a Lifetime (wishofalifetime.org) Denver area. • Mary – Develop a questionnaire to use when speaking to older adults in the community. • Alan – Working on keeping older adults in their home as long as possible through physical therapy and rehab work. • Bruce – Working with recreation staff on a summer bike ride for older adults. Talks about safety and riding skills. VI. Ongoing Initiatives a. Community Outreach 2023 continuing Dave’s April meeting discussions 2 • What is the ask when attending community meetings? • Want to hear older adults concerns regarding living in Fort Collins • Meet with older adults where they live. • Understand what we can and cannot do to avoid perception of over promising. b. Affordable housing information for older adults – Sarah c. Housing – Mary/Alan – Housing priority group has not had a meeting since February. d. Transportation – Think bike workshop using Nederlands as a model. e. Safety and Wellness – Deanna – End of covid emergency responses at UC Health f. Office on Aging – Alan – Spring Resource Forum was held. Had a lot of respondents, not many in-person participants. g. Senior Center – Sarah h. Future SAB Guest Speakers – Alicia has ideas of other to invite to be guest speakers. VII. Federal Funding •Coordinating service expansions in areas where gaps have been identified 4 Mobility Committees The NFRMPO convenes two county-specific mobility committees and one regional mobility committee (Northern Colorado Mobility Committee) that meet quarterly on the 4th Tuesday of the month from 1:30- 3pm to guide the mobility program and enhance coordination among public transit and human service transportation providers and other stakeholders: •Weld County Mobility Committee •Chairs: •Amy Threewitt, 60+ Ride of Weld County •Lisa Bitzer, Via Mobility Services •Larimer County Mobility Committee •Chairs: •Steve Conaway, Berthoud Rural Alternative for Transportation (RAFT) •Megan Kaliczak, zTrip 5 Mobility in Northern Colorado Identified mobility gaps: •Transportation affordability in rural areas •Getting between communities and to medical appointments in Metro Denver •Affordable wheelchair accessible transportation outside of paratransit boundaries •A lack of awareness of existing services •Driver shortages –both for volunteer and paid positions Identified strategies: •Coordination •Education •Collaboration •Infrastructure & Funding •Non-Mobility Improvements These strategies formed the basis for the 2021 Coordinated Plan 6 Connecting You & Northern Colorado Connecting You & Northern Colorado embodies the two overarching goals of the program: 1.Improving individual mobility, particularly for older adults, individuals with disabilities, lower income individuals, and people who do not speak English as a first language. 2.Improving regional mobility through enhanced coordination and collaboration among regional public and private transportation providers, especially in rural areas of Larimer & Weld counties. 7 RideNoCo Background •2013-2018 Larimer County Strategic Plan set a goal to evaluate the transportation needs and challenges for seniors across the County. •Assessments and pilots set stage for One Call/One Click Center conjunction with Phase 3: •A vendor has been selected to provide customizations to RideSheet to serve as a TDS- compliant CRM for RideNoCo and a scheduling platform for N40Rides (Red Feather Lakes) •Two volunteer transportation scheduling platforms, Spedsta & RideScheduler, will soon begin the process of adopting their software to be TDS- compliant for use by SAINT, RAFT, and 60+ Ride •Once provide customized information for each audience and purpose •Informative & Educational •What mobility options and tools currently exist? •How can individuals and organizations leverage these options and tools? •Assessing & Reporting •Gathers feedback from participants to better understand gaps and needs in our mobility system •Reports this feedback to partners and planning efforts •Complementary •Avoids redundancy & complements/supports existing travel training 15 Travel Training –Phasing •Phase I: in-person presentations with partner groups, webinars for professionals, and “round trip conversations” with users •Senior Centers, Libraries, Partner Organizations (such as LCDHE or IRCNoCo) •Transportation Toolkit Webinar for Social Workers and Case Managers •Round Trip Conversations = more casual conversations to give and receive information •Could be hosted in coffee shop, on the bus, social clubs, etc. •This will help us refine our travel training curriculum (repeated questions,
