Mission: The Senior Advisory Board shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Fort Collins City Council
on programs and policies that help aging citizens live full and interesting lives and continue to
contribute, participate, and share in the life of the community.

contribute, participate, and share in the life of the community.

a. Attendance:
Myles Crane, Alicia Durand, Bruce Henderson, David Kovach, Alan Kress, Deanna O’Connell,
Gabby Rivera, Susan Gutowski
Excused: Mary Roberts, Jeanne Hoag
Staff members: Sarah Olear, Lisa Hays.
b. Approval of January minutes Motion: David Kovach. Second Alan Kress. Unanimously approved.
c. Correspondence – Myles shared information about Senate Bill
d. Six Month Calendar Update – Sarah will keep updated monthly.
IV. Today’s Guest Speakers: (See presentation)
Dr. Allyson Brothers, Associate Professor, CSU, Hum. Dev. & Family Studies
Rachel Washburn, President CSU Gerontology Club and Club Officers
V. New Business
a. Speaking invitation from CSU Gerontology Club March 22nd. Alicia will be speaking.
b. Recent City Council Activity – Susan reported on results of 3/7 council meeting.
c. Affordable housing information for older adults. Myles proposed an initiative for SAB to provide
a definition of affordable housing. David motioned and Deanna seconded for the initiative to
move forward. All approved.
d. March 13th environmental services meeting re. extreme heat and older adults
e. Board reference documents: Myles has shared via email, please review.
f. Future speakers at SAB meetings – will be discussed more next meeting.
g. SAB Officer Elections – David Kovach Chair. Alicia Durand and Myles Crane co-vice chair.
VI. Ongoing Initiatives
a. Community Outreach 2023 – Gabby survey is complete, working on getting it out to the public.
b. Housing Boards – No report
c. Transportation – Bruce and David - No report
d. Safety and Wellness – Deanna reported that UC health has lifted mask mandates for most
patients. Covid 19 is now considered an endemic.
e. Office on Aging – Alan - May is Older American Month. Nomination forms are out now for
senior volunteer and senior caregiver.
f. Senior Center – Sarah – Spring registration was the busiest ever, wellness programs are receiving
record enrollment, Jeanne’s class continues to do well.
