ADJOURNMENT Cultural Resources Board REGULAR MEETING Wednesday, December 15, 2022 – 5:30 PM Canyon West Ballroom – The Lincoln Center 12/15/22– MINUTES Page 1 CALL TO ORDER: 5:42 PM ROLL CALL • Board Members Present - Will Flowers (Chair), Jean McGinnis, Vicki Fogel Mykles, Nandini Singh, Timothy Vavra, Jennifer Zidon (Vice Chair) • Board Members Remote – • Board Members Absent – Leslie Walker • Staff Members Present – Solara Clark, Jim McDonald • Guest(s) – AGENDA REVIEW CITIZEN PARTICIPATION APPROVAL OF MINUTES • Approval of October 2022 minutes. Vicki Fogel Mykles made a motion to accept the minutes. Jennifer Zidon seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. UNFINISHED BUSINESS NEW BUSINESS • 2023 Cultural Resources Board Annual Report – Discussion o Jim McDonald reviewed the 2022 Annual Report. o After a brief discussion, the Board agreed to adopt the 2022 Cultural Resources Board Annual Report. Vicki Fogel Mykles made a motion to adopt the 2022 Cultural Resources Board Annual Report. Jennifer Zidon seconded the motion. The motioned passed unanimously. • Recognize Outgoing Board Members Will Flowers and Jennifer Zidon o Jim McDonald, on behalf of staff, expressed his appreciation to Jennifer Zidon and presented her with a card from the Board. o Jim McDonald, on behalf of staff, expressed his appreciation to Will Flowers and presented him with a glass desktop plaque and card from the Board. o Will Flowers expressed his thanks and appreciation for the Cultural Resources Board. o Jennifer Zidon expressed her thanks and hopes to work with the Board in new ways moving forward. DRAFT Cultural Resources Board REGULAR MEETING Wednesday, December 15, 2022 – 5:30 PM Canyon West Ballroom – The Lincoln Center 12/15/22– MINUTES Page 2 DIRECTOR’S REPORT • Jim McDonald reminded the Board that Project Support II closes January 4th, 2023. Board members will score prior to the January funding meeting. The new Board members will undergo training with Solara Clark to learn the ZoomGrants system ahead of scoring in January. • Jim McDonald informed the Board that the February meeting agenda will include a review of the changes to the Fort Fund Guidelines before bringing those changes to the public in the March 2nd and 5th community meetings. He informed the Board that he met with City Manager Kelly DiMartino about the proposed changes and she supported the direction of the guideline changes. • Jim McDonald informed the Board of the Cultural Services Department’s about the 2023 – 2024 Budgeting for Outcomes (BFO) process. He shared the positive results on many of the offers for the Cultural Services Department including the following: o Getting Gardens on Spring Creek and The Lincoln Center’s general fund support back to pre-pandemic levels. o The continuation of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funded programs facility access program and the Cultural Community Program. o A new ARPA grant program focused on individual creatives. o The transition to LED environmentally friendly stage lights at The Lincoln Center. o A new storage system for the Museum of Discovery archives. BOARD MEMBER REPORTS • Jennifer Zidon attended the Friends of the Gardens Pumpkins on Parade and Garden of Lights events and the Museum of Art’s Picasso exhibit performance in collaboration with IMPACT Dance Company. • Leslie Walker sent a report to update the Board. Solara Clark read the report to the Board. Leslie Walker attended the Art in Public Places Board meeting and posed a question: “Are there any youth led nonprofits that could be reached in order to apply for Fort Fund?” o Jennifer Zidon suggested the Cultural Enrichment Center’s youth led sector. o Jim McDonald mentioned Beatz by Girlz, another local youth-based organization. • Leslie Walker Attended Spring Awakening at CSU, Flor de Toloache at The Lincoln Center, Cabaret by OpenStage at The Lincoln Center, Beyond Therapy by Bas Bleu Theatre Company, and The Nutcracker by Canyon Concert Ballet in conjunction with the Fort Collins Symphony. • Vicki Fogel Mykles attended the Fort Collins Symphony Halloween Concert and plans to attend the upcoming Colorado Bach Ensemble performance. • Timothy Vavra visited the Día de Muertos exhibit at the Global Village Museum. OTHER BUSINESS ADJOURNMENT: • Will Flowers made a motion to adjourn at 6:23 PM. Jennifer Zidon seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
