UNFINISHED BUSINESS • Collindale Fireworks/Board Participation Due to a lack of quorum, the Board was unable to meet during their regular scheduled BOARD NAME TYPE OF MEETING – (REGULAR) 09/21/22 – MINUTES Page 2 meeting on September 14. Ross asked the Board to hold a special meeting to discuss their participation at the Collindale Fireworks event, scheduled for October 14. Ross mentioned that this is an opportunity for the Board to fundraise for the Youth Scholarship fund. Scott explained that this is a CB & Potts event, not a city event. He informed the Board that Potts will be holding The RAMS for Life Golf tournament at 10:00. The proceeds from this tournament will benefit the Tom Ehlers Student Athlete Endowment Fund at CSU as well as the Youth Scholarship fund. Following the tournament there will be fireworks and music. Scott said even though a portion of the proceeds will go to the Youth Scholarship fund, this is a great opportunity for the Board to promote the program, as well as an opportunity for additional fundraising. He said this is similar to the Steakout Tournament. Proceeds from that event help support Recreation’s Youth Programs. Scott mentioned that the Golf Division also donated a $1,000 Premier Card to the fireworks vendor. Ross reviewed his presentation. He stated that the objective is to brainstorm concepts to raise funds for the Youth Scholarship fund, in conjunction with the fundraising event at Collindale. This concept must be executed entirely by the Golf Board. BOARD NAME TYPE OF MEETING – (REGULAR) 09/21/22 – MINUTES Page 3 • Can run into the night with glow-balls • Winner gets a chance at a 50-foot putt for prize • Cost: - $275 Glow Golf Fun Host a “station” on the chipping green to hit glow balls at glow targets. • Suggest donations for 5 glow shots ($5) • Run by golf board • No contest, just fun • Cost: $350 o $250 for 50 balls o $100 for targets & glow sticks o Potential to borrow some equipment Other Considerations • Would Fort Collins Golf Consider donating a prize, like a premier card? This could eliminate hard costs for hole-in-one insurance. • Should we have some juniors on-site for effect? • Could we run a “pro drive” or “beat the pro” contest? • Is there a CSU / Homecoming tie-in that we are missing? • Are we able to adequately staff these concepts? • Would golf board members be willing to donate the “hard costs”? After further discussion, the Board agreed that it would be best to focus on the opportunities with the least upfront costs. They also decided that it would be beneficial to invite this year’s Youth Scholarship recipients to the event. The Board will host a chipping event during the day and a glow putt-putt event at night. Devon said he would donate a set of wedges for the chipping prize. Ross mentioned that he will reach out to Earl to see if he would be willing to donate some glow golf supplies, if not, there will be a cost associated with this. A few of the Board Members and Scott said they would donate funds towards the supplies. The Board will have the donation box available during the putt-putt event. Ross will send out a sign-up sheet to the Board. 7. OTHER BUSINESS Rory suggested that maintenance staff video the preparation of the Collins Cup this weekend. Scott said he would mention this to Josh, but the event is starting earlier than anticipated so they might be preparing for the event in the dark.
