OLD BUSINESS Jenny Miller, Grant -update Boards and Commissions Fall Recruitment is open until Sept. 25. Members with expiring terms coming up were notified. (Jeni) Review Work Plan • Safety Action: Meet with Police Chief about staff training approach when interacting with people with disabilities including people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Strategic Objectives Supported: Improve community involvement, education, and regional partnerships to increase the level of public trust and keep the community safe. Meet expected level of core and specialized police services as the community grows. Partner with Poudre Fire Authority to provide high-quality fire prevention, community risk reduction and emergency response services. Improve emergency management and preparedness.  October agenda Chief Swoboda and Chief Bergsten • Transportation Action: Provide for safe & reliable multimodal travel to, from, and throughout the city.  Guest Speakers in November – status on updates (Drew Brooks/Kaley Zeisel  Jeni provided them with the topics we discussed in August • High Performing Government Action: Support the City in hiring people with disabilities through education, training, and partnership with PSD in creating a school to work pipeline. Introduce ACE, Project Search and SWAP. Provide People First Language to City Council. Provide input on City Equity Hiring Guide.  Pipeline/Resources o Disability Resources Service Group (Evan) o Student Disability Center (Joe) Page 3 8/8/2022 Agenda o ARC o Individuals with IDD - Safeway on Harmony Rd  Workforce Disability Subcommittee Members – Need participation o Jaclyn Menendez, Terry Schlicting, Shanae Core (DVR) o Agreed to add Shanae Core to team  Terry – CSU – hiring those with disability on decline. Emp. w/disabilities leaving.  City do a better job hiring those with disabilities. How to get employer engagement in hiring those with disabilities. Economic Health Action: Continue to highlight/recognize employers who hire people with disabilities through annual Community Recognition Awards.  Community Recognition Awards  2023 October next awards event  Claudia - will cover the meal of the event  Location • Senior Center, mindful of costs • Pros – Positive for community o Cons - Getting nominations for awards (Board generate nominations, possible social media platforms) • CSU – option/expensive – budget will allow (Jeni)  Categories for nomination • Recognized Employers in categories: Volunteers, Disability, Business Advocacy, Veterans • 1-2 nominations per category • Subcommittee o Rachel Knox-Stutsman, Joe Tiner, Shanae Core o Help with event planning o Votes on nominations October 2022 plan:  Highlight companies hiring those with disabilities  Place article in Coloradoan regarding recognition of board and employers approximately 1 month prior to recognition  Contact Molly at the Coloradoan regarding interviewing DAB members (Claudia)  Volunteers to be interviewed o Terry, Scott, Mandy, and Jaclyn.
