Jennifer Zidon chaired the meeting. • Board Members Remote - Will Flowers (Chair) • Board Members Absent – Vicki Fogel Mykles, Nandini Singh • Staff Members Present – Solara Clark, Ellen Martin, Jim McDonald • Guest(s) – Katy Schneider, Director of Marketing, Visit Fort Collins AGENDA REVIEW CITIZEN PARTICIPATION APPROVAL OF MINUTES • Approval of June 2022 minutes. Leslie Walker made a motion to accept the minutes. Jean McGinnis seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Approved by roll call, Ayes: Will Flowers, Jean McGinnis, Timothy Vavra, Leslie Walker, Jennifer Zidon. UNFINISHED BUSINESS NEW BUSINESS • Introduction of new member – Timothy Vavra o Timothy Vavra introduced himself to the members of the Board. • Katy Schneider, Director of Marketing, Visit Fort Collins – Update o Katy Schneider provided a brief overview of her position with Visit Fort Collins and her connection with the Cultural Resources Board and Fort Fund. o Lodging tax is at or above the 2019 collections and there is a positive outlook for the remainder of the year. o The July edition of Travel Leisure had Fort Collins as a front of book feature. o In connection with the Travel Leisure, the editor of the article mentioned Fort Collins as a summer travel destination on The Today Show. o As part of the Fort Collins branding initiative, Visit Fort Collins has contracted with the agency MMGY Global. The branding initiative is expected to be an eight-month process. • Ellen Martin, Art in Public Places - Update o Ellen Martin gave a presentation on Art in Public Places including the history and current projects such as Transformer Cabinets, Storm Drain Murals, Pianos About Town and Pedestrian Pavers. o Ellen Martin spoke about the temporary art installation in collaboration with the DocuSign Envelope ID: D765FD9B-57D0-4D16-B6E9-5A53200AC1FC Cultural Resources Board REGULAR MEETING Thursday, August 25, 2022 – 5:30 PM Columbine Room – The Lincoln Center 8/25/22– MINUTES Page 2 Gardens on Spring Creek as well as some larger public art projects such as the upcoming Bucking Horse Park art gateway. o Jim McDonald mentioned the Lincoln Center Gallery Quilt Exhibit, Artwear 2022 show, and the 2022 Artist Studio Tour. Ellen Martin gave some history and information on each of the events. DIRECTOR’S REPORT • Jim McDonald asked everyone on the Board to give one of their Fort Fund liaison events to Timothy Vavra. Timothy Vavra is new to the Board and missed the liaison assignments. o There was discussion about the Board’s role as a liaison and what to report back to the Board • Jim McDonald updated the Board on the delay of the Fort Fund public meetings. Jim McDonald is going to meet with the City Manager and the Deputy City Manager in early October to discuss changes in the guidelines before scheduling the public meetings. • Jim McDonald brought up the deadlines for the 2023 Workplan and 2022 Annual Report. It is anticipated that a 2023 Workplan draft will be brought to the Board in the September meeting for review and discussion. BOARD MEMBER REPORTS • Leslie Walker attended the International Keyboard Odyssiad & Festival 2022 and the Community Services 101 training offered by the City’s Community Services Area. • Jennifer Zidon attended Wolverine Farm Publishing’s Art Walk. OTHER BUSINES ADJOURNMENT: • Jean McGinnis made a motion to adjourn at 6:34 PM. Will Flowers seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
