at Spring Canyon Park temporarily. The Veterans Plaza would like to add it
permanently as part of the City’s art collection. The statue by Susan Norris honors
military service dogs and their relationship with service members. The sculpture is
valued at $32,000 and it is proposed that it would be maintained and cleaned by the
Veterans Plaza volunteers. The Board completed evaluations to see if the donation is

C) BUCKING HORSE PARK DESIGN REVIEW
Ms. Martin gave an overview of the project. The artist was selected in a competitive
process and worked with the project team. Craig Kisling and Jen Torrey with Park
Planning & Development presented the park project, which will be renamed as it is
developed. Jen shared the details of the neighborhood park design. Artist Josh
Wiener shared images and an animation to give context to the artwork. The design
incorporates three sculptural groupings placed in the native grass area along the Loop
Walk near the entrances from Miles House Ave. The layers of twelve beams will align
to form a solid wall as you enter the park and change as you move through the area.
The sculptures will appear to emerge from the earth and create a gateway element for
these entrances. This piece will need to be approved by City Council, so the board is
making a recommendation to them. There were questions about skateboarding and
climbing on the artwork.
Ms. Barnes moved to recommend the project to City Council to approve.
Ms. Chase seconded
Unanimously approved
D) BOARD PERIODIC REVIEW QUESTIONAIRE DRAFT
Ms. Martin presented the questionnaire with an initial draft of general information and
space for discussion of the Board specific questions. A draft with the Board additions
will be sent to the group before the next meeting.
E) PEDESTRIAN PAVER
Ms. Martin presented one of the Pedestrian Paver designs that was shaded to show
how the design would need to be altered for fabrication. The Board felt that the
intention of the original drawing was lost with this modification and that we should
move to the juried alternate paver design.
Ms. Hatchette moved to go with an alternate due to shading and complexity of the
originally accepted design
Ms. Bauer seconded
Unanimously approved
