V. New Business:
This in-person meeting was historic as it was the first time that two SABs from different
municipalities met together to address common issues.
Council Member Kelly Ohlson (former Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem), was the guest
discussion leader and delivered highlights from his interesting teaching career and four
decades of commendable civic service. Also, he clearly provided excellent context for the
Boards’ discussions focusing on B&C issues which had been previously deliberated at FC
Council’s Work Session on April 26, 2022.
Topics included the value of board contributions assisting Council by providing residents’
governance as the eyes and ears of the community; streamlining more active board
recruitment using avenues of communications in addition to the internet; seeking diversity of
both people and ideas; term service parameters; on-boarding member expectations; training
of board members and board elected leaders; interview timing; need for post interview
candidate backup; various communication glitches; interpersonal and other skill sets needed
by City B&C coordinators; necessity for boards to tell their story to the public and how they
can impact our respective cities; retention issues; responsibility of boards as well as city
personnel to continually improve processes.

The Board expressed appreciation to Mayor Marsh and the Loveland SAB members for
