VI. New Business:
Budgeting for Outcomes
Lawrence Pollack, Fort Collins Budget Director shared updates on the City’s Budgeting for
Outcomes (BFO) process. SAB as well as other B&C’s can help by
attending council sessions as well as providing written feedback regarding modifications,
changes, or suggestions for the budget. Offers are gathered and created through April;
reviewed in May and June which is when boards and commissions can provide feedback.
Budgets are then taken to council where the recommended budget is shared on September 2.
Budget information can be found on the budget website: www.fcgov.com/budget.
Communications with Socially Isolated Older Adults:
Gabby Rivera and Jillian Boyd, who work at Columbine’s New Mercer Commons, shared
ideas on how to reach socially isolated older adults. They recommended communicating
through Activity Directors and other department heads. These facility contacts can then
disperse information to residents. Gabby and Jillian volunteered to work on a survey for
regarding how older residents can learn about community programs.
VII Ongoing initiatives
Missing Middle Homes Project with PAFC Housing Priority Group – Alan Kress
attended prior month’s meeting. Nancy Luttropp attended most recent meeting and
commented about the Missing Middle Housing with PAFC. Developers are having a
challenging time offering affordable middle housing because water costs are so high to
start a project. They are trying to reduce grass areas in some new developments to reduce
water costs and are encouraging Zero Landscaping. The group is still looking to
encourage an increase in duplexes and manufactured homes. They are looking at other
organizations across the country and how they alleviate this issue.
Senior Center – Sarah Olear, Jeanne Hoag and Mary Roberts
Jeanne Hoag has proposed a program which the City is reviewing for adults 80 years and
older to meet every other month starting in June. Topics would cover matters of positive
social well-being of interest to octogenarians.
Neighborhood Livability Activities
SAB Community Outreach – State of the City meeting February 22, 2022.
Some initiatives cited including the FCPS Mental Health Team and the 2021 Strategic
Housing Plan were issues SAB had addressed to Council.
PAFC Community Updates: Transportation, Housing, Health &Wellness, Culture of
Aging: No further discussion.
Bicycle Advisory Committee – Sarah Olear
There are currently no SAB members with availability to attend the Bicycle Advisory
Committee meetings.
