DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Jim McDonald shared that the City of Fort Collins is accepting applications for Boards and
Commissions. The applications are open from September 14, 2021-October 10, 2021. He
noted that Zackery Klassen and Aquiles Quiroga terms will end at the end of 2021 and there
is no direction from the City Clerk as to if they need to reapply. He will send a link to both
board members to reapply if needed.
Jim McDonald discussed the 2022 budget process for Cultural Services Department. He
noted that the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery budget is what was requested but that The
Lincoln Center and The Gardens on Spring Creek budgets reflect a reduction in general
fund support. Two enhancements have been requested. One of these enhancements
includes the Project Manager position outlined in the Fort Collins Creates Arts & Culture
Master Plan. It is being put forward with American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. The
second enhancement was to support access programs at the facilities and again ARPA
funds are being proposed to be used.
McDonald stated that The Lincoln Center was the recipient of the Save Our Venues
Operating grant for $1.24 million dollars. The nonprofit partner of the Fort Collins Museum of
Discovery also received this grant for a lesser amount.
Fort Collins Museum of Discovery is opening the Mental Health: Mind Matters Exhibit which
runs from September 24, 2021-January 2, 2022.
The Gardens on Spring Creek wrapped up their concert series. Saturday night (9/18/21)
was their largest concert with 1500 tickets sold for the Herbie Hancock concert.
