2021 Youth Advisory Board Work Plan
The Youth Advisory Board gathers information from local youth, other groups, and organizations and
agencies regarding youth-oriented issues and makes recommendations to City Council about these issues.
The Youth Advisory Board meets the first Wednesday of each month – 5:30 PM, (no meetings held June –
August).
1. MEETING SCHEDULE:
Jan. 7 March 4 May 6 Oct. 7 Dec. 2
Feb. 4 April 1 Sept, 2 Nov. 4
2. GOALS:
Words/Phrases input by members to help build the work plan included:
• Innovation
• Respect
• Equality
• Accessibility
• Value & Honor
• Climate Change Awareness
• Community Affordability
• Community Engagement in Natural Areas
• Youth-Initiated, Sustainable, and Effective Solutions
3. WORK PLAN:
Comments submitted by members to help shape the Work Plan included:
• Engage the community by talking to other neighbors and reporting their ideas to the Board.
• Consider innovation as a method to addressing issues facing the community.
• Support youth in low-income households by promoting opportunities in the education system, with the
purpose of increasing overall graduation rates.
• Engage the Latinx community in City events, specifically showcasing sustainability.
• The City of Fort Collins Youth Advisory Board will strive to increase youth engagement and
accessibility within the community.
• The Board will advocate for and support environmental protection and education, equality & service
for our neighbors from all backgrounds, and community accessibility.
