CULTURAL RESOURCES BOARD
ANNUAL REPORT - 2020
BACKGROUND
The Cultural Resources Board (CuRB) consists of seven members. Regular meetings were held on
the fourth Thursday of January, February in person and virtually due to COVID 19 restrictions in
May, July, September, October and November, and December. The November meeting was held
on November 19th due to Thanksgiving. The December meeting was held on December 17th due to
the Holidays. The Board held two Fort Fund funding sessions in January and May.
The Board receives monthly updates from Cultural Services staff and acts in an advisory capacity to
City Council and the Cultural Services Department that includes The Lincoln Center, the Fort
Collins Museum of Discovery, the Gardens on Spring Creek and the Carnegie Center for Creativity.
The Boards’ specific advisory functions as defined in the City Ordinance No. 113, 2017 are:
(1) To advise and make recommendations to the Director of Cultural Services and Facilities
and the City Council as to rules, regulations, policies, administrative and budgetary matters
pertaining to the Cultural Services Department's programs, services and facilities and any
other cultural facility constructed or operated by the City;
(2) To review proposals for funding from the Cultural Development and Programming Account
and the Tourism Programming Account, following established and published guidelines, and to
submit recommendations regarding such proposals to the City Council to be approved by the
City Council by resolution;
(3) To advise and make recommendations to the City Manager regarding any proposed
revisions to the guidelines used by the Cultural Resources Board to make the funding
recommendations referred to in Paragraph (2) above;
(4) To assist, advise and make recommendations to the Director of Cultural Services and
Facilities and the City Council on arts and culture related matters and regarding opportunities
to promote awareness, understanding, and appreciation for, the value of cultural resources in
the community.
Members who served in 2020 were Ms. Tedi Cox, Mr. Will Flowers, Mr. Zackery Klassen, Ms. Vicki
Fogel Mykles, Mr. Aquiles Quiroga, Mr. Jesse Solomon and Ms. Jennifer Zidon. Mr. Flowers served
as Chair and Ms. Fogel Mykles served as Vice Chair.

Staff Liaisons in 2020 were Jim McDonald, Director of Cultural Services and Liz Irvine, Business
Support lll.
YEARLY HIGHLIGHTS - 2020
1. The Board administered two funding sessions for Fort Fund and recommended grants for
distribution as follows:
January 2020 Session $88,000 to 22 applicants Project Support II
May 2020 Session $155,000 to 18 applicants, Project Support
2020 Session $240,00 to 9 applicants, Organizational Support
Total: $483,000 awarded through 49 grants

2. CuRB members encouraged Fort Fund applicants to broaden their promotional reach, specifically
by adding questions to the application process that inquire about marketing plans and use of social
media.
3. CuRB members served as liaisons to events funded by Fort Fund, attending cultural events in the
community, lending support and assuring that the Fort Fund monies were being well spent and
acknowledged.
4. CuRB members worked with staff to review and update all Fort Fund grant applications and the
Fort Fund Guidelines
5. CuRB members continued to support the Visit Fort Collin’s on-line events calendar and continued
to require Fort Fund grantees to list their events on the calendar.
6. CuRB members and staff worked with grantees to support their work in adapting to the COVID-19
pandemic restrictions. In most cases, the grantees were able to complete their projects through
alternative means, including using virtual platforms.
