Sue Ballou: Chair, Partnership for Age-Friendly Communities in Larimer County
Many older adults prefer to age in place, working to provide other choices for Larimer
County affordable housing for the aging populations. Home sharing project went on hold
during the pandemic. Primary focus of PAFC is more choices for everyone in the community
regarding housing. Lifelong homes project to develop a point system to talk about what
houses are available so realtors, developers and consumers could use that as a tool for a
whole life solution to housing.
80% of homes in Larimer county are single family homes. 82% of older adults who own their
own home have 2 or more empty bedrooms in their homes. Missing middle housing in
Larimer County. Advocating for unpopular positions in terms of how to change housing.
Went into mobile home parks and talked to several residents, trying to come up with an
equitable solution for addressing issues to keep that an affordable option for residents.
